B Vitamins That Work: Bitter Taste vs Energy Boost

I was taking a multivitamin, but realized I only really need the B vitamins, so tried these out. First, I have to say these do not taste great. They don't taste awful, but they are slightly bitter. This is probably a good thing, you don't want kids getting into these thinking they are candy. They seem to be as effective as the supplements I have been taking, so I am pleased and would get this brand again.

Vitamin Basics & Tips

B vitamins play crucial roles in energy metabolism and nervous system function. While this review focuses on supplement form, many whole foods naturally provide B vitamins—meat, eggs, and leafy greens offer B12 and folate, while nuts and legumes contain B1 and B6.

Unlike fat-soluble vitamins, B vitamins are water-soluble and require daily replenishment. The characteristic bitter taste mentioned in the review often comes from active ingredients like B2 (riboflavin) or B6 (pyridoxine), serving as a natural deterrent against accidental overconsumption.

When choosing supplements, consider forms like methylated folate (B9) for better absorption. While supplements help address deficiencies, excessive intake—particularly of B6—can cause nerve damage. Always consult healthcare providers for personalized guidance.
